VFiPP back-pressure is a game changer when making espresso. But it's not just about making the process easy and more reliable; back-pressure is critical to shutting off water gaps between grinds which allows the bypass of water. Back-pressure forces water through the grind particle structure itself, hence resulting in better extraction, richer volatile acid content in the cup, and a brighter, tastier espresso.

We've spent nearly 3 years developing, designing, testing, and optimizing each and every part on the JLever58mm so that it performs for many, many years. Our environmental lean means we are absolutely against planned obsolescence design. All parts on the JLever58mm that experience high stress are metal, and all parts are designed to act within their elastic limits, and never near fatigue working limits.

Pulling double shots in under 2 minutes and with a 30-second clean-up is easily done on the JLever. VFiPP technology especially saves time mucking around with grind setting, perfect distribution, weighing beans each time, and sink shots.

In a world increasingly dominated by sedentary lifestyles, where tasks are often completed with a push of a button, it's important to remember that our bodies are designed for movement. The JLever58mm is capable of pulling up to a 25g triple dose shot of espresso; that's more than four single-use 6g pods! If you're hosting a dinner party, you can easily pull two triples within 4 minutes, and you would have the equivalent of eight pods worth of coffee. With two JLever baskets, you can pull shots one after the other, leave the clean-up till later, and get back to your guests faster.

We have placed a great deal of effort into making our unit compatible with different espresso baskets. This is important, we feel, as everyone has a favorite basket, and different baskets can highlight different aspects and flavor notes in a coffee bean. So, whether you like IMS, VST, Pullman, or the newer precision baskets, we've got you covered. Note: some baskets may require specialized adapters which may not be supported at launch.

We use standard, high extraction, 58mm commercial baskets but more than this, VFiPP technology ensures you're squeezing every last ounce of flavor notes from grinds each and every time. Some of our custom pressure profiles are also designed to promote high extractions. With the JLeverX 58mm, you should be able to taste flavor notes that you won't be able to taste using other machines.

If you wake up early but have loved ones that sleep in, and/or perhaps you live in a small apartment with thin walls, but need to make a delicious cup to start your early day, just pair the JLever58mm with a quiet grinder or indeed use pre-ground or grind the night before, and you'll have a completely silent means of making your espresso coffee, without the loud rattle of a vibration pump espresso machine.

The JLever58mm is completely dismantlable within minutes, as are all our tools, in fact. This is no coincidence; we've put a lot of effort into designing a system that is easy to clean, service, and maintain, not that there is much to do in the way of cleaning, servicing, and maintaining. The JLever is so mechanically simple it should provide years of trouble-free service.

Traditional espresso machines are bulky and energy-hungry. This means that not only do they produce more greenhouse gas emissions and electricity bills in usage but they have a higher embodied carbon cost to produce. The JLever58mm uses a minimum of materials and is very simple to produce, which lowers the embodied carbon cost, and really is the best choice for the environmentally conscious.

It's hard to avoid plastic intake nowadays, both nano-particles and dangerous plastic additives such as PFAS, BPA, and their replacement variants, which some say are not much better, leech into our food and water. These build up in our bodies until they reach a threshold; that's why it’s critical we at least lower our dose wherever we can.

The JLever58mm has a tiny storage footprint. Place it next to a grinder or out of the way somewhere and pull it out only for use. The unit will not take up valuable kitchen storage space. After all, we all have enough machines that vie for space on our kitchen benchtop.

While the unit is really made for a domestic kitchen, with access to a sink, it can be semi-portable. Take it to a friend's place or take it camping. The only proviso is that you need running water to rinse components after use. At 2kg, it's portable enough to be placed anywhere out of the way around the kitchen.

While the multi-dose functionality will be limited in the first version, future versions will have a 54mm basket which will allow doses down to 7g or so. This is made possible due to the VFiPP back-pressure plate which provides the back pressure required for good extraction without a large dose size.
