Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

We're aiming for an end-of-2024 launch date. However, we've made predictions before and have completely missed the mark, so any timelines are very tentative until we get closer to the launch date. Delays are possible and very likely, as we continue to perfect the JLever 58, so sometime 2025 is more likely.

Most likely, it'll launch in Europe, the US, UK, Japan, and Australia. Availability in other countries will depend on whether we can get retail stores to stock our items. We encourage all interested stores to contact us if you'd like to stock JLever products.

You'll need a separate milk frother to make milk-based espresso drinks like cappuccinos and lattes. We recommend subliminal products, but others are available.

Yes, the 58mm standard VFiPP plates will be sold separately. However, they do require a deeper basket, since you lose some depth due to the 5mm thickness of the VFiPP plate. They work well with standard espresso machines, but for best results, we recommend machines capable of lever profiles.

Yes, but not initially. At some point, we will launch 54mm, 53mm, and 51mm VFiPP plates, as well as a 57mm plate for the AeroPress. Having said this, we haven't started experimenting in these sizes yet, and it may be the case that VFiPP won't work well here. Certainly, they may require baskets with specific characteristics (large hole counts, we suspect).

Not initially. However, if we receive enough customer requests, these can easily be produced as an aftermarket option.

We designed the JLever 58 to be super easy to "pull" shots on, so the arms are on the longer side and do take up some room. Options include pulling shots at an angle across a benchtop corner, with one arm across the sink, or even turned nearly perpendicular to the length of the benchtop. However, if you have a really small kitchen and can't find a space for the arm length, the JLever may not be suitable for you.

At present, we have no plans, but it would be a trivial task to shorten the arms on the existing design, increase the leverage mechanism to reduce the shot volume, and change to a 54mm/51mm portafilter and basket design. So, there may be a simple conversion kit down the track.

Yes, and we encourage this. Drinking coffee is a social event, and with two or three portafilter baskets, you can easily prepare multiple baskets for back-to-back shots so that you can enjoy your espresso or other beverages with company!

There should be a 5-year warranty. Due to the all-metal construction, extensive testing, and FEM material analysis, we don't envisage issues.
